Free lunches may embarrass students into hunger

Students in cafeterias across the nation are choosing to forego lunch rather than face the stigma of eating government-subsidized food. In most schools, students with free lunches have to eat different food than students who pay.

New Orleans homeless moving into tent-like barrack

Since Hurricane Katrina hit the city more than two years ago, New Orleans has grappled with an epidemic of homelessness. Mayor Ray Nagin is moving the homeless from crack-infested outdoor shelters into an air-conditioned tent with bunk beds.
