Drilling and energy employees lose jobs in Texas

Unemployment is on the rise in the oil-rich Permian Basin of western Texas and southeastern New Mexico, especially among drilling and energy companies, as oil prices continue to decline from their midyear peak. The Texas Workforce Commission reports that Midland and Odessa have seen an increase in the number of unemployment claims in the last few weeks.
